engagement session | kansas city, mo

Steph and I go way back—like, way back to high school! I first had the pleasure of photographing her and Matt in 2016, so it means the world to us that nearly ten years later, they reached out for their engagement and wedding photos.

Steph and Matt are the kind of couple every photographer dreams of. Their natural banter, infectious giggles, and playful spirit made this session one of our absolute favorites. They really put in the effort to nail down the vision for their engagement session, exchanging countless emails to perfect every tiny detail.

One of the highlights was adding film to their engagement session. It was so special that they trusted us to capture their love both digitally and on film. After receiving their gallery, the film photos turned out to be some of our favorites!

We kicked off their session at Cheval Bar in Downtown Kansas City. The venue perfectly matched their romantic, classy vibe. The staff at Cheval made everything seamless, and we had a blast moving around the bar, taking advantage of all the incredible backgrounds. The cocktails were delicious, and the atmosphere was just right.

After leaving the bar, we drove around until we found the perfect city street for some playful crosswalk photos. True to Kansas City style, many passersby honked and cheered in congratulations!

Next, we headed to a beloved classic, The Nelson-Atkins Museum. Steph and Matt set up the sweetest picnic and sipped champagne as the sun set. Their sweet pup joined us for the final part of the session, making it an even more heartfelt ending.

After we wrapped up the shoot, we sat on the lawn, finished the rest of the champagne, and reminisced about our friendship and how far we’ve all come. This Kansas City engagement session was truly special and meaningful to document.
